TEDxYouth@Chennai 2013 Team


Karthick Sundar is the licensee of TEDxYouth@Chennai. Working as a full time event manager, he has experience in fields ranging from teaching fashion design to vendor management. He is a regular on the TEDx scene and has been an integral part of various events over the years. His confidence, contagious enthusiasm to deliver and constant need to push the bar ensure that any project is taken a step further and limits and boundaries are constantly challenged.

Karthick Sundar

An IIT Madras student, Yashasvini has been a published writer since the tender age of six.  She is today a consummate writer, having contributed to many leading English dailies as well as magazines over the years. Apart from her writing, she is actively involved in social service activities as well as event management cross the city, having been associated with various conferences and competitions. She has been on the core organizing committee of TEDxYouth@Chennai since its inception three years ago.

Yashasvini Rajeshwar

Vinod Senthil is a renowned ethical hacker and cyber crime consultant who has worked with sensitive projects both in India and abroad. Having worked with 85 of the Fortune 500 companies, his work has gotten him recognition even from the likes of Mr. David Filo (Co-Founder, Yahoo!). He has written on various IT security topics ranging from wireless insecurities to website defacement. He has conducted several successful workshops nationally and internationally and has been covered by multiple prestigious English dailies.


Vinod Senthil

A graphic and product designer who has done designs for game studios and branding agencies. He has a vast ideology not only for design related to abstracts, but for products too. Currently he is doing Rapid Concept Prototyping (RCP) under his own label Design Under Garage. He wants his products to be more intuitive and sustainable. He is an active supporter of Product RED organization.

Syed Tajudeen

Onieyk Suraj has multiple educational qualifications, topped off by a Diploma in International Business. He was one amongst the top 25 Tata first DOT national entrepreneurs chosen from over 2500 students from around the country. He has over ninety press releases to his credit for his social entrepreneurial ventures and has given live shows on various forms of media to promote his work. He was also the student ambassador for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) for the period 2008-2009 representing the country on a global platform. Apart from these professional ventures, he is also an avid painter, basketball player and loves to travel.

Syed Tajudeen

An aspiring event manager, Akhil is currently a first year BCom student in Loyola College. He has previous organizational experience working as an integral part of The Debate Club, organizing one of the bigger inter-school debating competitions in the city. He is an ardent cricket fan and has represented his school in the sport, amongst various others.  His team was chosen as amongst the top 20 All India Design For Change 2011 contest and was Best Student of the Young Indians wing across the city.


An award-winning academician and youth marketing expert, he is an Associate Professor at National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai. His work with multiple international brands such as Nike USA and Skull Candy, Japan has contributed to many of them restructuring their work in the Indian subcontinent. His research interests include the fields of colour psychology and youth subcultures and he has presented his papers in CII conferences and the London College of Fashion. He is a celebrated design mentor, having worked with numerous young designers across the globe.


Rajeev Mahadevan has been involved with TED since 2010 when he first got the opportunity to be part of the TEDxChennai 2010 team and consequently TEDxSRM 2010 and TEDxChennai 2012. His Twitter personality, @rajeevist, tweets about technology, [his] current affairs and otherwise utter nonsense. He is also an avid trekker and runner. He enjoys theatre and an occasional cup of filter coffee. He also likes trolling; hence the truth of the above statements is under scrutiny.

KGSriram aka 'KG'  

An instinctive photographer after the Shutterbug bit him late, his interests include capturing kids, weddings and family events. Not new to the TED concept, he has been involved with three TEDx conferences previously and has also covered other major events such as TiECON and various flashmobs which have appeared in the print media. He is professionally a Program Manager in Hewlett-Packard but also is an active cricketer and avid quizzer.

KG Sriram
ShaswatiBasu Sengupta  

 Shaswati Basu Sengupta is the CEO of INgene Insights Consultancy, the first ever lab for brands wanting to penetrate the Indian youth segment. With a decade of expertise in Indian consumer behaviour, fashion trend analysis and space design, she works in the fields of market research and has helped in the launch of various brands. She is also the co-founder of the not-for-profit organization ‘InkLink Collective Unschool’, a free art education platform through social media. In her free time, she writes apart from working with Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu in developing a sketch book for differently-abled children.

Divya Iyer  

An engineer by qualification and a journalist at heart, Divya is a person who believes in exploring and experimenting with life. Her domains of experimentation range from cooking, bathroom singing to Model UN, Public Relations and Entrepreneurship. Currently the President of a Toastmasters Club in Chennai, she loves filter coffee, travelling and Emily Dickinson.

Priya Prabhakar  

Priya Prabhakar is a student at the American International School of Chennai. She has lived in the United States for 8 years before moving to Chennai. She has recently participated in the Chennai Model United Nations Conference and she has keen interests in filmmaking, writing, chess, tennis, and world affairs. Priya takes an active interest in exploring ways to help her community and wants to give a voice to the youth of today as well as making sure they are heard. She also enjoys an occasional cup of black tea.

Manisha Bisani  

Manisha Bisani is our forever smiling partner in crime. A fashion designer by education and deeply passionate about creative expression, she cares deeply for those around her. Dedicated in everything she does and not one to shy away from responsibility, she has been the silent backbone to the TEDxYouth experience for the last three years. If ever there is a need for responsibility, commitment and perseverance, Manisha is the person to turn to.

Arun Venkatachalam  

Currently spearheading the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative at the US$ 4Bn Murugappa Group, Arun Venkatachalam is a 5th Generation member of Murugappa Family. A former Investment Banking Analyst beginning his career at Axis Capital (ECM) where he was part of two IPO's and Proposed PSU Disinvestments, he subsequently joined M&A Advisory at Lazard where he focused on Industrials, Agro, Technology & Healthcare. Arun is an Active Angel Investor in South Asia based Start-Up's with a focus on SaaS, Agro & Mobile Technologies. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies from the Lancaster University Management School, UK
